Overview
The Raven Center For the Arts is a public, non-profit organization located in the beautiful rolling hills and ever green forests in the Ozarks of Southeast Missouri. It is within a short driving distance of Big Springs National Park and Ozark Scenic River Ways, which hosts both, canoeing and floating trips, on the Current River.
It is our goal to encourage and inspire the inventive creativity of talented emerging artists, as well as established artists, providing them with the necessary supplies, housing, financial assistance and instructors.
Established and aspiring artists from all over the United States come to the Raven Center For the Arts each year to develop and enhance their artistic skills, create new works, and participate in dynamic and inspiring workshops and classes. We offer intensive hands on instruction in various artistic disciplines such as pottery, sculpting, painting, drawing, jewelry making, and music. All seminars are conducted by our staff at the center along with well-known professionals in their particular area of expertise.

History
The Raven Center For the Arts opened it's doors in April 2000. About a year prior to it's opening David Porter, Julie Taylor and Claudia George conceived and incorporated the idea for the center, intending it as a not-for-profit venture to promote the founder's shared belief that the arts should be made available to the public in the lovely Ozark settings of David Porter's farm near the town of Ellsinore, Missouri. Their goal was to promote participation by persons who would not ordinarily have the opportunity of becoming enriched by the arts.
The image of the raven, which is the core of our logo, was chosen because it represents "the void of things not yet formed," in Native American folklore.
